In the summer of 2013, Kolkata lost a dear soul, someone who single-handedly changed the face of Bengali cinema. Rituparno Ghosh loved telling stories of pain and struggles. His last few films, gripping tales of loneliness, speak volumes of his own struggles as a closeted artist. Memories-of-March is a tribute to this visionary, who, despite being terribly alone in his search for freedom, catapulted millions of desolate hearts along the road to acceptance.
As we remember Ghosh’s stories, hopefully, sharing our own ‘not-so-easy’ stories will inspire us to evolve as people where we stop dissuading others from pursuing their dreams or who they are.
